Straw Gate Books, founded by Phyllis Wat in 2005, publishes poetry and occasional related texts.
We are particularly interested in works by women and non-polemical writing with an underlying social content. We also feature new authors and authors whose work is under-served.
Our publication calendar is full for now. We are not accepting manuscripts at this time, but stay tuned.
Publisher's Note: Phyllis Wat is a poet (The Influence of Paintings Hung in Bedrooms, Fall '07; The Fish Soup Bowl Expedition; Shadow Blue) and a founding co-editor of 6ix (1991-2000), a language-oriented magazine. A graduate of the writing program at Temple University, she migrated to Maureeen Owen's workshop at the St. Marks Poetry Project, and became an aficionado of New York School poetics.
Books may be ordered from Straw Gate Books, 44 West Washington Lane, Phila., PA 19144-2602. Make checks out to Phyllis Wat Moritz.
